Is this course for you?

  • You are a beginner to nervous system work and want to learn techniques to calm body, and mind.

  • You know that regulating your nervous system is a crucial skill to master this in life.

  • You have experience of some nervous system work, and are ready to dive much deeper into a safely embodied connection with yourself and learn a diser array of skills

  • You want to empower yourself by learning (or deepening) practices to use in your daily life, to meet stress, anxiety, trauma, menopause and other  life challenges from a place of true empowerment through learning skills for life

  • You would like to enjoy carefully curated me time, in strongly held space, being guided to calm and nourish yourself, with facilitation tailored to your needs.

Course "curriculum"

Each week starts with a theory video and long practice video, the following days have shorter daily practices around 5-15 mins, to embed the learnings in your body and neurology. In the theory each week we will cover:

 

Week 1, Understanding

Understanding the basics of the Nervous System and the impact of any trauma.

 

Week 2, Awareness

Awareness of Polyvagal Theory, the Science of Mammalian Safety and how this theory can be a supportive contextual tool to create safety and calm.

 

Week 3, Listening

Listening to the voices, signs and sensations in which the Nervous System is communicating our state.

 

Week 4, Storytelling

Understanding how our Nervous System state is creating the stories we tell ourselves and how to start changing the stories using this bottom-up approach.

 

Week 5, Regulating

What is regulating, how to do it (a menu of approaches for every nervous system state) and how to talk to our Nervous System in it's own "language".

Week 6, Sleep

Week 7, Anchoring

Incorporating all the learnings into daily life, a recap of the vital aspects of this course, and inspiration to keep up practices.

  • Understanding our nervous system and the science of mammalian safety (how our nervous systems works as human mammals) is vitally important for everyone, especially so in the modern world, which is so much more demanding than our ancient nervous systems evolved to cope with. Our nervous systems still expect us to be living in hunter gatherer tribes, not the overstimulating environment that the modern world has become, with 24/7 news, our devices sending us information and demands, and pressures from work or studying.

  • Everyone is carrying excess stress, tension and trauma which has a huge impact on our ability to enjoy our lives, and engage with others. This course is aimed to help you grow your self-understanding and self-compassion, and support your nervous system to move through the the waves of "stuff" life throws at us, more gracefully and so that you can return back to rest/digest and restore. This will lead you on to then understanding others and their behaviours, growing your compassion for everyone, whose nervous system, like yours, moves in and out of different states.

  • This six week programme will be led by Deborah Maddison, Breathwork and TRE® (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises) practitioner and Breathwork Trainer.

  • What can you expect?

  • To experience deeply restorative nervous system practices (30 new ones) and soothe your body and mind.

  • To empower you with tools to be able to bring your body into more balance, ease and rest.

  • To be able to identify the different nervous system states you are in, and know ‘what to do when’.

  • To understand the ‘voices’ of our nervous system, to listen to the words and stories and know how to respond.

  • To receive practical tools to take home with you to support your nervous system - a toolkit of practices for every time, or moment.

  • To grow a greater sense of understanding and compassion for your own body and nervous system, and learn how to communicate more kindly with it. You will also grow more understanding and compassion for others.

  • To be able to turn down the "alarm bells" in your mind, that can cause a greater escalation of stress, anxiety and worry.

  • Life changing information and practices, whoever you are and whatever level of nervous system dysregulation you are struggling with; We all have nervous systems, this course will teach you to move into the driving seat of yours.

What makes this course unique

Deborah deliberately keeps her groups small, so that everyone has an opportunity to share if they wish and aks tyour questions. The Cohort will limited to 12 participants maximum to ensure you feel supported and that the course is personalised to you and your needs.
